I have just come to know Marianne Hoynes and I am supportive of her efforts to reform our healthcare system, not just for some but for all.

But, a skin rash caused by Granuloma Anulare, a chronic viral disease that is usually asymptomatic, was spreading over her body, joint by joint.
It's Granuloma Annulare. This skin rash has nothing to do with pain in joints. It's cause is unknown and there is no cure. It is unsightly, but for some people, it goes away in a few years, while others, they will endure it forever. There is no pain associated with this chronic condition, so the author of the article is misleading people.
Had this woman, with all her "chronic" conditions, had she not been in a wheelchair, I wonder if the author would have given her the time of day. It's the word, wheelchair, that seems to be the reason for the article.
"Heckled Woman has a Message" doesn't have the same dramatic effect as "Heckled Woman in Wheelchair."
One other thing, it was her responsibility to find out any and all information regarding Medicare and the need for supplemental insurance.
Hello Soosalah,
Granuloma Annulare, in my case, is a symptom of Rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease that attacks the connective tissue. Skin is a connective tissue, and the rash was the one thing that kept the specialists sending me from doctor to doctor, so it was a blessing in the end. The skin is attacked by the disease, as are the joints under the rash, lungs, vascular system - I could go on, but as you seem to know so much as to be secure enough to post your strong opinion, I am sure you know about the debilitating symptoms of autoimmune diseases like the ones that I have.
The author you speak of is a dear friend and neighbor. He would have written the article if I were or were not in need of a wheelchair, because he is the chivalrous type, and because the point was that I was an American who had the right to speak at my own town hall meeting, about what it is like to be sick in America, without being verbally assaulted by the hysterical neanderthals in the room who were brought in by buses to stop the dissemination of information.
The glib way you reference my wheelchair, as though it were some kind of prop, says volumes about the kind of person you are.
I take full responsibility, being too ill to navigate the complicated medicare system when I first became disabled, for not knowing that a medicare supplemental insurance existed. I take full responsibility for that (which is why I mention it) as a matter of full disclosure.
It is sad that you feel so justified to make such a judgment on a situation that you have little understanding of. Your need to attack me personally, when you know nothing about me, makes me feel sad for you. So sad your life must be, to spend your time in such a distasteful practice. I will pray for you.
Marianne,
I think it's great you joined Newsvine on February 9, 2010, just so you could defend someone you know, and to teach me about skin, Rheumatoid arthritis, and Granuloma Annulare. However, I assure you, I know of these illnesses.
Your need to attack me personally, when you know nothing about me, makes me feel sad for you.
Because you do not know Newsvine, you are unaware of the inner workings of Newsvine. Members read articles, and we are allowed to comment on those articles. I believe you should re-read my reply to the article, because at no time do I attack you. I 'questioned' the integrity of the author of the article, nothing more. I am allowed to question, and to respond to the article, as is everyone.
It is sad that you feel so justified to make such a judgment on a situation that you have little understanding of.
Do I feel justified in making a comment on this situation of the person in the wheelchair in the article? Yes, I do. All we have is the article to go by when we comment. I think YOU presume incorrectly, Marianne. Even if there is more to the story, I'm still going to give my opinion.
So sad your life must be, to spend your time in such a distasteful practice.
Let's see, you are responding to my comment about the author and the mentioned event in the article, which I am entitled to do, by the way, and in doing so, without any knowledge of Newsvine's Code of Honor, Newsvine's purpose or the Newsvine Help faq, you want to accuse me of something I did not do?
The glib way you reference my wheelchair, as though it were some kind of prop, says volumes about the kind of person you are.
No, I'm not. I'm giving an allowed opinion on a very political and slanted article. This article discusses politics, and that's what I'm commenting on. It is not the job of any member of Newsvine to "know" the author of an article seeded, and how kind he may be. He's probably a lovely man, but that isn't the point.
If you feel my comment was in violation of Newsvine's Code of Honor, I suggest you contact Tyler, Newsvine's moderator, and report me.
I will pray for you.
I will do for you as well.
Soosalah Dear, you can sugar coat it all you like. Responding to the politics of the article is one thing, and not quite what you did. You spoke of my illness, you personalized your message to criticize me and my (as you put it in quotes) "chronic" illness. Where exactly were your political comments? You are a bully and a coward.
One more time.
My remarks were to the article, not to you. Did you even read the rules of Newsvine? Did you take the time to read what Newsvine is about? I didn't think so.
You are a bully and a coward.
Reported as inflammatory. This will be the last time I respond to you.
To The Moderator....
I've known Soosalah ever since becoming a NV member (October, 2008) and she is anything but a bully! Neither though is she a coward (to be cowered by a vain and infantile attack on either her character and/or position on this article [or any article for that matter]).
I too am an disabled individual, suffering permanent neurological damage from both a stroke (2003) and broken neck (2005), as well as currently being in the middle of radiation treatment for prostate cancer. I too have been bed-ridden (as the individual in this article has been I use [and have used] both a cane or a walker since 2003.
In addition to the permanent neurological damage, vertigo and prior stroke, I also high blood pressure, COPD, rheumatoid arthritis, several bulging disc in my lower back and arterial disease. So... do those facts somehow excuse me form being civil to other NV members (even if I happen do disagree with them on a specific issue? I hardly believe that to be the case!
I want anyone (and everyone) reading this article to be aware of how Soosalah has stood by me all this time! She is one of my dearest friends here at Newsvine and does not deserve this type of under-handed attack on her character.
Even after attempting to explain her position Marianne continues to bait her into an argument. Where is the moderator of this article !!!
She is actually a very sensitive and caring individual. One who doesn't hide behind "her" illness in order to somehow feel vindicated (or justified) in a blatant attack of another person (like some here apparently feel is okay to do - it is not ...and the moderator here needs to begin moderating!)
On the other hand, to immediately go on an offensive (without knowing anything about the other individual) clearly shows a lack of insensitivity and self-righteousnss that is almost sickening to witness in it's perverse sense of accomplishment and zeal at the demeaning of an totally innocent person.
As a disabled individual, I feel like puking right now!
I am not unsensitive about Marianness condition either , but regardless of her condition, that condition does not automatically give her a free pass (or permission) to attack another individual here on Newsvine (period; the end)!
As Soosalah has already said, if Marianne feels she has been somehow maligned, she needs to take the issue to the NV administation and stop being FLAMING (being an instigator).
By this sad example, I am led to speculate if the article linked to tell the entire story of why Marianne was heckled to begin with (there are generally two-sides to every story and the initial response in this post clearly shows [to me at least] a defect in the subjects purpose for either being a member of NV (by a total disregard of the CoH [Code of Honor] and a clear lack of respect for others.
sincerely, Mic Hudson
